Project Stream

Project Stream makes competitive grants up to $2,500 to individual artists, non-profit organizations and fiscally-sponsored organizations for innovative, community-based arts projects. Projects can include performances, exhibitions, readings or other arts projects in any genre, and must be open to the public.

The aieNEPA at NEIU administers Project Stream in Lackawanna, Luzerne, Susquehanna, Wayne, Wyoming and Pike counties on behalf of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA), as a regional partner of the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA) program.

An update from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts

We want to update you on what is happening with our grants budget for the new fiscal year, which began July 1, 2020, and the status of the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA) Project Stream program.

Due to widespread uncertainty and fiscal impacts stemming from the pandemic, the PA Legislature passed a Fiscal Year 2020-2021 state budget that provides funding for only the first five months of the fiscal year (with the exception of education, which is fully funded for the year). The Legislature will revisit the budget to address the remaining seven months of the fiscal year as more revenue data becomes available and a clearer picture of reopening emerges.

For this reason, the PCA Council has had to enact a revised budget that utilizes only the appropriation currently available. Due to these constraints, Project Stream is not included in this five-month budget, so this program is on hold until more information is available regarding the state’s current year budget.

Council will revisit potential funding for Project Stream later this year as more information becomes available about the Legislature’s action on the remaining seven months of the Commonwealth’s budget. We know firsthand that organizations throughout Pennsylvania draw upon Project Stream funding to help provide programming and events in their communities, and truly hope to be able to include this program in a future 2020-2021 budget.

We will regularly communicate with you in the coming months and are here to answer any questions you may have. As always, thank you for your great contribution to making the arts available in your community.
